Actual Handwriting Of Loved One Personalised Grief Notebook

Do you have a card, note or letter with your loved one's handwriting on? I can capture this for you onto a personalised grief journal. Whether you are grieving the loss of a father, mother, wife, husband, sister or brother, my grief notebooks can offer you a safe space to keep a connection to your loved one through writing and to release words that are perhaps too hard to speak out loud.

What do you need to create a handwriting grief journal for me?

I will need a clear photo of a card inside, note or letter with your loved one's handwriting on to create your journal. I can pick out, mix up or leave out any of the words written, just let me know in the personalisation box.

💡 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝘁𝗶𝗽: When taking your image, try and find lighting where there is the biggest contrast between the text and the background paper/card (no shadows, etc.)

Also, please note that when it comes to deciding which words to include off a longer letter for example, less is definitely more for the front cover. Long text will not work well. You can however think about switching out the inside cover poem mentioned below if you have more words that are meaningful to you that you'd like included ❤️

Can I add my own text inside instead?

Yes, you are more than welcome to have a different poem, part song lyrics or text inside that is meaningful to you. You can also choose to have nothing at all on the inside cover. Just let me know in the personalisation section.

How can writing help for grief?

I wrote the poem above many years ago in memory of my daughter who was stillborn the day after my due date. They say that grief is love with nowhere to go. Having somewhere to write to the person you’ve lost, your thoughts over time and journal your grief journey can be very cathartic. Looking back over time, it can help you to realise both how far you’ve come, and also the new room you’ve made in your heart to house that grief (love). 

How is the A5 notebook personalised?

I personalise the outside and inside cover of each notebook using silver or gold foil printing. 
Please note that the trim on all of the pens is silver

Yes, our A5 notebooks have a soft touch, hardback cover.

Are the pages inside the personalised notebook blank?

Our personalised in memory journals are blank with lined pages ready to be filled with letters and thoughts to your loved one. I include a bookmark with every grief notebook order that has a link to a page with grief writing prompts and ideas to help when a blank page feels overwhelming. Each journal comes inside of a "The Self-care Journal co." book pouch. 

Can I include a gift message instead of the tag?

Yes you can. There is a space for a note at checkout where you can add your message, or you can send me an email after ordering.
